Light Infantry in Iraq
2003: A and D Companies of 1st Battalion The Light Infantry were deployed on Operation TELIC 1.
In my travels with the Army during Operation TELIC 1, I met the commander of the two Light Infantry companies, Major Johnny Bowron, who invited me to join them. I bivouacked with them during a violent sandstorm one night. In Az Zubayr I drew Light Infantry soldiers rapidly dismounting and attacking from Warrior armoured personnel carriers, and painted this scene later from the sketches I made on the spot.
