 23 September 1803: Two field guns were attached to each infantry battalion, and were positioned on each flank when the battalion was in line of battle. Here we see the right flank gun (a 6-pounder) of 2nd Battalion, 12th Madras Native Infantry; and beyond it the left flank gun (12-pounder) of the 74th Highlanders.
